
JCC Azerbaijan Business Roundtable
Joint Chamber of Commerce Switzerland-Eastern Europe, Central Asia, South Caucasus JCC’s Azerbaijan Business Roundtable on “Key Takeaways from COP 29: The Road Ahead for Swiss-Azerbaijani Cooperation in Climate Action” took place at the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services CCIG on April 7, 2025 15:00-18:30 CET
✅ The roundtable, moderated by Leyla Baghirzade, Head, JCC Azerbaijan Chapter was an opportunity to learn about Azerbaijan’s ‘Go Green’ Strategy. The country aims to become a greener economy through the decarbonizing of oil and gas operations, and launch of solar and wind energy projects. H.E. Mr. Fuad Isgandarov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Switzerland portrayed this in his statement of welcome which reviewed the positive outcomes of COP29 Baku.
✅ SMEs have a role to play in the country’s greener future and are being offered a development plan to help them adapt their operations. This was showcased by Elnur Aliyev, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board, Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA) of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
✅ In her presentation Julie Noller, Carbon Trader, SOCAR Trading described the companies measures to mitigate environmental damage by offering carbon trading products.
✅ Azerbaijan seeks international collaborations to harness innovative technologies and achieve net-zero emissions targets, offering opportunities for Swiss-Azerbaijani tech partnerships. This was the topic of the panel discussion also moderate by Leyla Baghirzade.
✅ Igor Almazov, Key Account Manager, Business Development, Hitachi Energy described how his company bridges power generation and renewable energy sources through sustainable and secure power transmission and distribution.
✅ Matthias Grapow, Head Business Development, MAN Energy Solutions analysed ways that his company is contributing to decarbonisation of the oil and gas industry through hydrogen power solutions, carbon capture and heat pumps.
✅ Digital technologies is a key component of implementing renewable energy solutions emphasised Igor Basanskyi, Business Development, Itera’s intervention.
✅ While Fizza Gurbanova, Regional Director, Swiss Approval Azerbaijan described how her company provides inspection, evaluation and certification of green standards in industrial processes.
