Navigating Business in a Sanctions Environment - Update

An update on the latest sanctions packages imposed by Switzerland/EU/US in connection with Russia and their practical implications.

Sanctions now have a very strong influence on international business. While until a few years ago this was in most cases only relevant for market participants who were more or less directly active in sanctioned markets, sanctions are now relevant for a large proportion of companies operating internationally.

Sanctions are circumvented via third countries, against which companies want to protect themselves, sanctions clauses are required in contracts, etc. Sanctions are relevant for export-oriented companies, all the more so for those active in the CIS or other markets considered to be high-risk.

At the same time, in the case of Russia there are also sanctions that have been imposed against Western companies, including Swiss companies. Exiting the Russian market has become difficult/costly, companies are placed under external administration, the repatriation of profits is massively hindered, payments can in some cases no longer be executed, etc.

Finally, there is also an update on Russia's macroeconomic situation and relevant developments.

In response to requests from various members, and in view of the evidently great uncertainty in dealing with sanctions, JCC is offering a second webinar on this topic this year.
